The Stolen Cascadura

The Cascadura is a much sought after fish in Trinidad and Tobago and is a rare and expensive delicacy. In Trinidad folklore, it is believed that those who eat this fish will end their days in Trinidad. This fish represents everything sweet, golden and unspoilt about the land we Trinbagonians call home. The Stolen Cascadura looks at some of the harsh realities of Trinidad society and seeks to present these issues in a thought provoking manner. The setting is Trinidad in the year 2003; a time of  significant socioeconomic and political change.

The novel revolves around four young people Jesse, Brian, Eddy and Lisa who come from different cultural, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. However, when the lives of these teenagers and their families collide through circumstance, their vulnerability is revealed and their secrets exposed. Each of them discovers that there is something they hold dear to their hearts. Something that once stolen, can never be replaced.

The Stolen Cascadura was selected for the National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS) 7th Annual One Book One Community Nationwide Reading Project in 2012. The novel has gained popularity in secondary schools throughout Trinidad and Tobago and is available in local bookstores  as well as on Amazon. The recommended age group for this novel is ages 15 and over. To see photos from the One Book One Community event, click on the NEWS & PAST EVENTS tab.
