NEWS & PAST EVENTS
On Wednesday 7th November, 2007, when I launched my first novel, The Stolen Cascadura at Fatima College Hall in Port-of-Spain, I had no idea that I was embarking on a journey that would allow me to meet so many beautiful people of Trinidad and Tobago. This page is dedicated to you my readers and fans. You are the reason I keep writing and all my reasons for being an author. Thank you for sharing your stories, lives and hearts with me.
2019
In May 2019, I spoke extensively throughout NALIS libraries in Trinidad. Some of the most memorable places I visited include, St. Jude's Home for Girls, Success Laventille Secondary School, St. Helena Public Library, Maloney Public Library and Tunapuna Public Library where I had a videotaped interview. Sincere thanks to the hardworking staff at NALIS who made my visits to Sangre Grande, Mt. Lambert, St. James and NALIS Headquarters possible. Unfortunately I was not able to visit the prisons because of the prison break that occurred in May. Hopefully in 2020 I will have the opportunity to speak at Golden Grove Prison again. I had an amazing time and look forward to doing it again soon! Pictures to follow....
2014
National Library Quiz
In 2014, NALIS used my novel Is America She Gone? in the annual National Library Quiz which saw schools from all over the island competing for this coveted title.
Secondary Schools
In 2014, I visited the Sangre Grande Secondary and Arima Government schools, where I spoke to students about making positive life choices.
Golden Grove Women's Prison
I visited the Women's Prison in Golden Grove. The women had read The Stolen Cascadura and dramatized chapters in the book. We discussed the novel and issues affecting women in Trinidad society. For security reasons photos from this event are not available.
Visually Impaired Book Club
I was invited to meet with the NALIS Visually Impaired Book Club who were having the novel Is America She Gone? read to them. This group is very dear to my heart as my father was also visually impaired. It was truly a privilege to meet these readers.
2013
Is America She Gone?
In 2013, Is America She Gone? is published.
2012
One Book One Community Launch
In 2012, NALIS selected The Stolen Cascadura for the 7th Annual One Book One Community Project. The launch took place at NALIS in Port-of-Spain. In addition to the launch, the book was dramatized by library staff and skits were performed in libraries throughout the island. Several events organized by NALIS to promote reading took place throughout the island.
